MAGICAL MEMORIES / DESTINATIONS

Beaches, resorts and a slower kind of escape

Choose the setting, room and rhythm that make a beach vacation feel like yours.

01 / YOUR TRIP, THOUGHTFULLY PLANNED

Couples’ time or a family getaway?

Start with who is traveling. Sandals describes its resorts as adults-only and designed for couples; Beaches is oriented toward families. That distinction matters more than choosing the most attractive pool photograph. my published travel profile includes both brands.

For a couples’ trip, discuss the balance of quiet time, dining, water activities and excursions. For a family trip, consider children’s ages, sleeping arrangements, activity preferences and the adults’ need for downtime. A multigenerational party may need several room arrangements rather than one solution for everyone.

Choose the island and journey together

A destination should fit the journey as well as the experience after arrival. Compare flight connections, arrival times and the transfer to the resort. A short-looking flight does not always produce the simplest travel day.

Think about the setting you want: a beach-centered stay, a lively resort, a quieter base or a place for exploring beyond the property. Weather is never guaranteed. Seasonal conditions, travel-document requirements and practical arrival details should be checked for your dates before a booking is finalized.

Understand the all-inclusive description

Sandals and Beaches describe broad dining, beverage and recreation inclusions, with airport transfers among their advertised services. The details still depend on the property, room, activity and applicable terms. Do not treat the phrase “all-inclusive” as a promise that every expense disappears.

Spa treatments, some excursions and other optional experiences may be separate. Ask about room-category extras, gratuity exceptions, transfers, taxes and any activities you intend to use. The most helpful comparison is the total cost of your intended vacation, with included and optional items listed clearly.

Find the room that supports your vacation

A room choice includes layout, beds, location, view and service level. If one person sleeps early, separation may matter. If you expect frequent trips between the beach and room, location could be a priority. If you plan quiet time together, outdoor space may be more valuable than a larger list of amenities.

  • Confirm bedding and guest limits.
  • Ask whether connecting rooms are confirmed or requested.
  • Review steps, distances and accessibility arrangements.
  • Compare the exact room category rather than generic resort pictures.
  • Identify which additional services are included with that category.

Plan a family resort stay around real ages

Beaches promotes family facilities including Kids Camp and waterparks. Before relying on a particular activity, confirm the age requirements, availability, supervision arrangements and any additional conditions that apply. An advertised family feature does not mean every child can use it in the same way.

Build a mix of shared time, age-appropriate plans and rest. Agree how the adults will coordinate childcare responsibilities and what everyone wants from the trip. Share dietary and accessibility needs early so the resort can answer the important questions before arrival.

Leave space for the place itself

A beach trip does not need an activity scheduled for every hour. Make a short list of priorities—perhaps a shared meal, a water activity and one excursion—then leave space to adjust. Consider how travel fatigue, sunshine and children’s routines affect the day.

If an excursion is important, review its transport time, physical demands and cancellation conditions. For water activities, follow the operator’s requirements and local guidance. Keep the first and last days flexible enough for transfers rather than treating them as guaranteed full resort days.

What Sue needs to compare your options

Share the traveler count and ages, approximate dates, departure area, preferred islands or resort style, budget range and sleeping arrangements. Explain whether you want adult-only time, a family-focused stay, a celebration or an accessible room configuration.

Ask me to distinguish the travel price from optional purchases, and to explain booking and cancellation terms for the choices you are considering. A useful quote comparison should make the tradeoffs visible rather than simply declaring one resort “best.”

Beach and resort questions

Sandals or Beaches? Begin with the adult-couple versus family distinction, then compare actual properties.

Are excursions included? Some experiences may be separate; check the particular offer and activity.

Can dietary or mobility needs be accommodated? Raise them before booking and seek confirmation through the supplier.

Is a particular view or room location guaranteed? Rely on the booked category and written confirmation, not an inspiration image.
